Ever notice how many times in this business we take care of all of the production questions first, then think about marketing, rather than the other way around?  There is nothing any of us can do to control the market but we can stack the deck in our favor when it comes to competition.

That is why Seedstock Plus developed its Marketing Assistance Program or M.A.P. Broad reaching in nature, it starts with a guaranteed bid-back program on calves sired by Seedstock Plus bulls or out of Seedstock Plus females. It's easy to participate in one of the Seedstock Plus programs, plus there is no cost or obligation.  It's one of the services provided with Seedstock Plus genetics.

To be eligible for the marketing programs; at least a portions of the calves must be sired by Seedstock Plus bulls or out of Seedstock Plus females. As well, they must meet at least these minimum health management standards:  7-way clostridial, IBR, BVD, BRSV, PI3, Pasteurella and Haemophilus 2-4 weeks ahead of weaning /delivery; as well, bull calves must be castrated,. All calves must be dehorned.

For producer who don't have a load of calves to sell, Seedstock Plus will help users of Seedstock Plus genetics pool and background calves with other producers. Eligible calves must carry a Seedstock Plus Value ear tag, available through Seedstock Plus -- these tags make commingling and data tracking possible.

So, even though this years calf crop is memory, now is the time to start planning your next couple of marketing seasons.

• Bid at open auction - Let Seedstock Plus know what auction sale you will market the calves at and when, and Seedstock Plus marketing partners can provide a bid there.

• To increase numbers and selling power, users of Seedstock Plus genetics can also bring their calves to one of the special Seedstock Plus feeder calf sales.

Since pooling and backgrounding calves adds value to calves, Seedstock Plus partners can also help producers commingle and background theri calves for direct or auction sale.
